Catch up time

Remember the tree costume? Well this is what we did with it. Carol a friend of mine joined in singing Christmas carols at the retirement home where my Mom lives we had a ball and the folks loved it. She pranced around in her tree for the first bit and we sang O Christmas Tree....How cool is that?

While she went to change we sang a medley of Carols, and had all of the residents singing there hearts out.

About 4 years ago I decided to try some Swedish weaving...whoops I ran out of yarn. I couldn't find any so I left it forgotten. One day I decided to try and find the yarn and only found some on eBay after much looking and waiting .We bought 8 balls of it on eBay and 4 weeks later we still didn't get it so my DH got in touch with the lady who sold it to us and promptly credited our card.....but no yarn. It was no longer available in any store even the company no longer made that colour. So once again left and forgotten. Then one day Terry was looking in a magazine rack that had some old papers in it and lo and behold a Walmart bag with 2 balls of yarn that I had purchased at the time. I DID buy 3 balls and didn't remember. Boy to get old.(! @&*$), Anyway we had a good laugh and things happen for a reason ...now I'm working on it again. HA!
As you can see I have 1/2 of the page 2 finished on the JD album of stitches I picked it back up after I did a few Ornaments.

This is one of the ornies. I can't show the other one yet.

Well folks I wish all of my readers the best of the season and stay safe and warm.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
MERRY CHRISTMAS, from our house to yours.

Want to have a laugh?

This is me wearing a Christmas Tree costume.
I don't intend to be seen wearing this in public but a friend of mine is going to. The lights aren't working so my DH is trying to fix them.
This is going to be a part of our extra little Coral group that will be singing at my Mom's retirement home...We will be Caroling for them on the 16th and one of our brave singers will be dressed in this Tree costume. I love it!!!!.... what a hoot!

This is a update on my bit of stitching I've done on the album of stitches page 2.
Not much yet but it is pretty. This is actually black as you know it doesn't photograph well.

With all of the singing and the decorating I seem to have lost time to stitch. Also a bit of secret stitching going on!!!

Off to rehearsal tonight so farewell and stitch with happy fingers!

A very nice gift!!!

Look what I got from Texas.!!! Cindy F. sent me this after she drew my name for being one of her blog readers. Isn't it lovely. Thank You so much Cindy. I love it.
It is a beautiful chart by Lavender and Lace called... "Angel of Spring"
I will enjoy this chart and intent to stitch it one day soon!

Do you remember when I stitch this earlier this year. Well I waited to make it into a pillow until I found the perfect fabric for it.
Guess what,I found it... and on the weekend when I was putting things together for my Mom I made this!!!

I just love how this little pillow turned out.

I'm off to a stitching retreat this weekend at a lovely B&B not far from home. Ann of Knowledge and Needles is hosting this and we are looking forward to a lovely meal cooked by her DH on Sat. There are 18 of us going and o-boy will we eat, drink [water]and be merry. Lots of finger foods and treats. Yummmm.

Thank you for the good wishes for my Mom she had her procedure today and seems to be getting on just fine. I'll keep you posted.

Take care have a good weekend and stitch with happy fingers.

About my Mothers stitching

Most of you know that my Mom is a fabulous Stitcher and has been for many years. she just turned 92 this summer and is well and healthy. She had a pacemaker replacement last week and is having Cataract surgery this week, and then again in 3 weeks... one eye at a time. She is strong and excepts this wholeheartedly.
But in the mean time she wanted to finish some of the pieces she has been working on because her eyesight will be impaired for a few weeks.

The Christmas and New year heart was a chart that was given to her and she finished it COMPLETELY herself. I gave her the supplies and she puttered away on it and showed it to me on the weekend.

Sunday was a day of finishing for her.
This little banner is one of the ones I helped her with. She no longer uses a sewing machine so I did the cutting and stitching . It turned out so sweet. These were little charts from a magazine.
The fabric is perfect for this with the pretty little stars on it. The back is finished with the same fabric.

This is also one we put together on sunday.
Yup we were busy but the results are wonderful! This is a chart that she recieved from a friend from a very old magazine. It was torn out of it and there was only the one page so I have no idea who it is by.
I have been stitching as well but you know what ... this is about my Mom !!!
Stitch with happy fingers and have a good day.

Page One...

First of all THANK YOU all for such a wonderful response to BLING being finished!!!! I was overwhelmed by all of your kind comments.

And now I have another finish...page one of the Album of stitches by Jennette Douglas
I am so pleased with the results. Working on 32ct black evenweave with lovely variegated threads , beads and Krenik.

I wish I could take a better photo but the black seems to be hard to show up. It looks a bit grey but believe me it's black. and tiny.

Because I had a couple of finishes I decided to treat myself to a new start.
This is the chart that Tracy [Teejay] gifted me last month and I bought some wonderful white opalescence even weave. so far so good...

I really must get to bed now it's late and I'm tired. I have to sing tomorrow and I need to practice a bit in the morning.

Stitch with happy fingers.

Another week

I was so excited to get the last 2 flip- it's for the Christmas spirit by Lizzy Kate I dropped everything and stitched the next one...3 to go yippee.
The colours are looking better and better as I go.

I've gotten a bit more done on the JD album. I have 2 more rows to do and then I will finish the writing and add the rest of the beads. The next page is in, so... I really should get this done.

This is page 7 on the PL and I worked on it on my regular day[Wed] this week.

So there you go, my bit of stitching that I had to show you.

I hope you stitch with happy fingers and see you all soon!

She's Finished

Well folks here she is BLING Finished.

You know..being as I took a break from the computer I was able to do lots of stitching.
I was finding I was not only blogging but gameing and face booking and NOT stitching sooooo thus the break.
I will now get caught up on the comments on your blogs and browse around. I need to limit myself a bit.
I've also been walking every day . I'm up to 40 min. I was never a walker because my job [barber] had me on my feet for 8-10 hours a day. Now that I'm retired I've been on my butt that long. I've put on a bit of weight and am trying to lose some of that as well. I'm down 4lbs...not much but at least it's down!

Take care and stitch with happy fingers.

Show and Tell.

It seems to me I have done a lot of stitching this week.

Bling is on the home- stretch. She got some back stitching this week. Black on black is a bit tough but it's getting there.

8 flips done on Christmas spirit 4 to go. I'm waiting for them to come in the end of the month. This will definitely be done for Christmas.

Paradigm Lost has 6 pages done and 6 to go so the halfway mark has been reached.

Finally I must say this Jeanette Douglas Album of stitches is soooo much fun. It is slow going because most of it is over one on 32 count black lugana. But the results are so pretty. This page is the Mosaic stitch. There is a lot of bling and beads will go on it as well. Page one is a light green and blue blend. DMC veragated thread 4060.

Have a great week and stitch with happy fingers.

FLATFOLDS

Ann,... Adriana[my Mom].... Kathy,.... Angie,.... Barb.[our guider through the making]

This a picture of the group of us that got together at Ann's to finish up our flatfolds. Obviously I'm not in the picture because I took it but if you go to Ann's Blog she has posted some too.
She actually named all of the pieces. I just know who did what, not what the charts are called..Again She has that info.

Kathy did the Boo and the PS Angie did the witch.
These are the 3 pieces I did...oh I love them.
L..to R Mom's ...Barbs....Ann's
A sideways view. This a very nice way to finish because it stores so well. Mostly these are seasonal things so need to be put away.

I want to thank Ann for her hospitality and Barb for her assistance..the other ladies for there company.

Kathy and Angie are on their way to AZ soon so they will be missed. Our group is just not the same without them !!!!!!!

Now I need to get back to my stitching and I will drop by the blogs to say hello to everyone first.
Take care and stitch with happy fingers!
